North Carolina Police Arrest Two Illegal Immigrants in Kidnapping Case; Third Suspect Sought
GARNER, N.C. — Two illegal immigrants have been arrested by North Carolina police in connection with a violent home invasion and kidnapping that occurred on Monday. The suspects, identified as PAOLA DURAN DURAN, 25, and MIGUEL ANGEL DURAN DURAN, 23, allegedly broke into a family’s home armed with guns, demanded $1 million, and abducted a mother and her 11-month-old daughter when the father refused to comply, according to the Garner Police Department.
The suspects are charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of second-degree kidnapping. Authorities are actively searching for a third suspect, ELEODORO LEO ESTRADA-HERNANDEZ, who remains at large. Estrada-Hernandez is wanted on charges including two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of second-degree kidnapping, felony firearm possession, and two counts of assault by pointing a firearm.
The incident unfolded when the suspects entered the Garner home, restrained the father with duct tape, and fled with the mother and child in a black Nissan, as reported by WNCN. The victims were safely recovered on Tuesday after a Wake Forest resident reported that a woman with a baby had arrived at her home seeking help.
“In less than 24 hours, through incredible collaborative investigative efforts, the Garner Police Department charged and arrested two people in connection to the kidnapping,” the department stated in a news release. Both suspects are currently being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers have reportedly been lodged against the suspects, according to WNCN. The FBI and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are assisting in the search for the third suspect.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Estrada-Hernandez to contact the Garner Police Department Crime Stoppers at (919) 834-4357 or the FBI’s toll-free tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
