Officer-Involved Shooting at National Harbor Leaves Suspect Dead, Victims in Critical Condition

An officer-involved shooting occurred on Easter Sunday in National Harbor, Maryland, following a violent domestic incident that left two victims critically injured.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded to a stabbing call around 8:20 a.m. and discovered a man and a woman with severe stab wounds. Police Chief MALIK AZIZ stated during a media briefing that the suspect fled the scene after setting fire to the apartment. Authorities confirmed the stabbing was domestic-related and that the suspect was known to the victims.

Less than two hours later, officers encountered the suspect at St. George Boulevard and Potomac Passage in the National Harbor area. The suspect, still armed with a knife, reportedly moved toward an officer, prompting two officers to discharge their weapons. The suspect was struck multiple times and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. No officers were injured during the confrontation.

The stabbing victims remain in critical but stable condition. Investigators have yet to confirm the relationship between the suspect and the victims. The identities of those involved have not been released.

The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division has taken charge of the case to ensure a thorough and impartial review of the incident.
