Florida Elementary School Teacher Placed on Leave After Attending Controversial House Party

A Florida elementary school teacher has been placed on administrative leave following her alleged involvement in a house party where underage drinking, marijuana use, and other concerning activities were reported. KARLY ANDERSON, a teacher at Saturn Elementary School, attended the party hosted by ELIZABETH HILL-BRODIGAN, the former principal of Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, in Cocoa Beach in January, according to FOX 35.

The party, advertised as a “white lie” event on Snapchat, reportedly drew around 200 attendees, including students from multiple local schools. Police reports indicate that the gathering involved underage drinking, marijuana use, and altercations. One attendee was even seen with a firearm, and another was observed vomiting and shaking in the yard.

MATT SUSIN, a Brevard County Public School Board Member, described Anderson’s actions as “deplorable and disgusting” during a press briefing on Tuesday. Anderson, who previously taught at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, was reassigned to Saturn Elementary School after the incident.

Initially charged with felony child abuse, Anderson’s charges were later reduced to misdemeanor disorderly conduct and disorderly intoxication. Despite the reduced charges, she resigned from her position but later rescinded her resignation, allowing her to continue teaching.

Body camera footage released by the Florida State Attorney’s Office for the 18th Judicial Circuit captured Anderson yelling at a police officer. “What the f— is wrong with them?” Anderson is heard saying. “Cocoa Beach has gone f—– mad and nasty.” She also identified herself as a teacher, questioning why she was being detained.

Parents of Saturn Elementary School students expressed outrage over the situation. ASHLEY FERNANDEZ, a parent, stated, “I was livid because, honestly, the woman still hasn’t even gone to court. This issue hasn’t been resolved at all, and she has no place being inside of a school right now.”

MARK RENDELL, Superintendent of Brevard Public Schools, emphasized that Anderson’s conduct was unacceptable. “All employees are held to the highest standard of professional behavior, and BPS will continue to follow all policies and procedures to ensure a fair and thorough review of this new information. The teacher’s actions as seen on the footage were completely unacceptable and do not match the charges given and warrant a further investigation,” Rendell said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

Fox News Digital reached out to Anderson and Hill-Brodigan for comment but has not received a response.
