Authorities in Washington State have made a grim discovery in the case of a missing grandmother, whose remains were found buried under a shed and partially encased in concrete. The shocking find has led investigators to focus on her handyman, identified as a person of interest in her disappearance.

MARCIA NORMAN, 82, was reported missing to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) by her family on April 4. Relatives stated they had not heard from her since April 1, and her vehicles were still parked at her residence. Detectives noted that the condition of her home, including dirty dishes left in the kitchen, suggested she may have left abruptly.

In their investigation, TCSO detectives identified JEFFREY ZIZZ, 47, Norman’s handyman, as a person of interest. The pair had reportedly shared dinner on the night she went missing, making him the last known person to have seen her alive. Authorities obtained a search warrant for a shed Zizz had built at an unrelated property in Olympia the day before Norman was reported missing.

On April 9, while moving the shed and excavating the ground beneath it, law enforcement uncovered human remains partially encased in concrete. The following day, the Thurston County Coroner’s Office confirmed the remains belonged to MARCIA NORMAN.

Zizz allegedly fled the state, violating the conditions of his sentence for a previous, unrelated child molestation conviction. He was arrested by Montana authorities at a motel in Missoula and later extradited to Washington.

As of now, Zizz remains the primary person of interest in the ongoing investigation. Detectives are working closely with the Thurston County Prosecutor’s and Coroner’s offices to gather evidence. Zizz is currently held in the Thurston County Jail on a no-bail hold but has not yet been formally charged in connection with Norman’s disappearance.

The case continues to develop as authorities piece together the events leading to this tragic discovery.
